Message from Principal Bacon
Dear RCP Families
Hopefully all of you enjoyed Fall Break.
Improving Attendance for 24-25: Several weeks ago, our Site Council examined our attendance data and found significant improvement. In 23-24 our Chronic (80-89%)/Severe (79% or less) attendance rate was 27%. So far this year we are 19.12%. That said, we know we can do better. Regular on time attendance positively impacts all students. In December our attendance drops due to vacations. If at all possible, please avoid pulling students out of school early.
Promotional Filming for VDLI Program: A video crew from VTV International will be visiting RCP on Wednesday and Thursday next week to make a short video about our Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion program and our sister school relationship with The Olympia School in Hanoi. We will be able to use this video as a promotional video to recruit new families to our program. More details will be sent to our VDLI families.
For more important school news, please read below.
In Solidarity,
Principal Bacon

WHAT'S NEW??

Meet our new RCP Staff!
Jacob Wilson, Evening Custodian
I am responsible for cleaning the first and second floors of RCP (2nd - 5th grades and specials), this includes trash, recycling, floors/carpets, graffiti, bathrooms and other things as necessary as well as light maintenance work.
How long have you worked at RCP and/or Roseway Heights?
I have been at RCP since the beginning of September.
Where did you go to elementary school?
I went to elementary school at Mill Park elementary in the David Douglass school district, and my first year in the PPS school district was 8th grade at Jason Lee K-8
What is your favorite thing to do in Portland or Oregon?
As a Portland Native this is a hard thing to answer. I had lived out of state for several years and missing the rain, the greenery, and family/friends was enough to get me to move back. If I had to pick one thing it would have to be the accessibility of great food and the prevalence of small businesses that make it easy to have a great time no matter where you go in the city.
What is something that we probably don't know about you?
I have created several websites, applications, and small video games.

HOLIDAY GIFT CARD DRIVE DEC 1-13
Dear RCP community,
As the winter holiday season approaches, in collaboration with the PTO, we are collecting donations of gift cards for families in our community. We are seeing an increased need for support for families, and appreciate anything you are able to contribute.
There are two ways you can contribute:
Purchase a gift card yourself, to a local grocery store, like Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons, Grocery Outlet, Walmart, or Target. Please drop off any gift cards to the office and we will distribute them to families.
Alternatively, you can view and purchase cards electronically through this Amazon Wish List.
Thank you for all of your support!

Note: We ask families to email potential tutors directly to inquire about rates, availability, and to set up sessions, and payments as needed. HPH is not responsible for matching tutors with students, screening tutors, or resolving any issues related to tutoring services. We will continue to update the list of available tutors.
