"Snacks" Options
Dear Families,
We want to ensure that all students have the necessary support for snacks during the school day, particularly for those involved in athletics or those with medical needs.
Students are welcome to bring snacks from home and leave them with the School Nurse. This allows us to create a plan for when students can come to the Nurse's Office to retrieve their snack.
If your child requires this service, please reach out to our School Nurse via the contact information provided below to coordinate the best plan. In the event the School Nurse is unavailable, our support staff is trained and prepared to assist by ensuring students can access their snacks during the scheduled times.
All snacks will be safely stored in the Nurse's Office refrigerator.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us ensure our students' health and well-being.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Kim Johns, kjohns@pps.net, 503-752-6464.
Attendance Coach
Below are the attendance percentages for our entire student body, based on data pulled on 11/12/24:

- Yellow: Students with 80% to 89.9% attendance
- Red: Students with attendance below 79.9%
The JHS Attendance Support Intervention Ladder
Or, "Attendance Ladder" for short, is our school's approach to addressing unexcused attendance codes such as LAT (Late after Tardy) and SKP (Skipping). When students have unexcused absences without a valid and documented excuse, they will meet with the Student Attendance Coach and be placed on the ladder. For any questions, please contact La’Mar Winston Jr., the Student Attendance Coach. lamwinston@pps.net

DEMO SPOTLIGHT
District Championship Meet Recap - History Made at Lents!
Back-to-Back State Qualifiers - First Time Since 1987/88!
Girls Team Runs Varsity at District - First Time in Modern Era!
Girls place 7th in Varsity Race!
In the first race of the afternoon Tesla, Mitzi, Anya, Dianely, and Kamayla ran Jefferson across the finish line and scored as a Varsity team at district for the first time in the modern era! It is not clear when Jefferson last scored a girls varsity team at a district championship. It had not occurred since the PILgot back together in 6A in 2014, it is unlikely to have happened at any other time this century, and it is possible that it had not been done since the 1980s. Since the district reorganized in 2014, seven Varsity Girls teams (2024) is the most to classify at the PIL District Championship in our 9-team league. We did that. Our girls did that! They ran hard, remained competitive in a competitive field, and acquitted themselves as runners from the School of Champions!
OSAA XC State Meet Recap
We are proud of, Roman and Henry, who competed at State this past weekend! Please congratulate them on a very successful and record-breaking season, and thank them for representing our school and our team at the highest level of commitment and respect for their sport, their teammates, and the value of doing these things at Jefferson.
Roman and Henry's efforts at the State Meet, throughout the season, and over the last four years have been historic and exceptional. They are our first back-to-back State Qualifiers since 1987/88, and both runners improved their times and places from the State Meet a year ago. College coaches from Seattle University (DI) and Oregon Tech (NAIA) came by and chatted with us before and after their race. And they are very positive about what our kids can do - they should be!
Roman finished 14th in 15:41.1 - a school record at the State Meet by time and highest finish for a Jefferson runner since the introduction of the 5k in 1975! Henry came through in 68th with a time of 16:31.9.
