Bridger Creative Science News
November 22, 2024
Good afternoon, BCSS Community,
Next week is Fall Break for students and families, with conferences on Monday and Tuesday. The school and office will be closed Wednesday-Friday. During conferences, the Book Fair will be going strong in the Library, and students are welcome to visit during conferences!
Conferences provide a dedicated time and space for school/family partnerships to develop and thrive. The following are some questions you might consider asking during your student's conferences:
The following questions from Colorin Colorado can help you learn more about your child's progress in school: What is my child expected to learn this year? How will this be evaluated? What are my child's strongest and weakest subjects? What are some examples of these strengths and weaknesses? Does my child hand homework in on time? What types of tests and evaluations will my child have to take this year? How are my child's test-taking skills? Is my child participating in class discussions and activities? How are my child's social skills? Does my child seem happy at school? Have you noticed any unusual behaviors? Has my child missed any classes other than his/her excused absences? Do you think my child is reaching his/her potential? What can I do at home to help support his/her academic progress? Thank you for trusting your children with us every day. I hope you all have a wonderful Fall Break, and I look forward to seeing everyone in December!
Kindly,

Arena Style Conferences – key points
Students are strongly encouraged to join families for conferences
There will be an individual line in the cafeteria for each teacher.
When others are waiting, please limit the conference to 10 minutes.
If you need more time or privacy you can schedule an individual meeting with specific teachers at a later date.
You do not need to see every teacher.
Plan ahead with what you want to ask, and who you want to speak with. For example, ask about homework, grades, tests, content, strengths, areas of concern, how can we help at home, missing work or anything else you want to know.
Conferences are not required if you do not have any specific concerns and are already well-acquainted with your student’s teachers. We are prioritizing students with CP & DP grades.
Please bring the Parent Mind Map to conferences
If your student comes to conferences with you, please have them bring their chromebook and planner
In addition, virtual online conferences will be available to schedule with individual teachers on a first come, first served basis. Virtual conferences will be available on both days at the following times:
Monday 8:00 am-4:45 pm Tuesday 6:30-8:00 pm

SUN Update
SUN Update
Hi parents, Students had lots of fun this fall term in SUN! This is the last week of the term.
Winter term will start February 3 and end March 21 (before spring break). Enrollment and interest forms will be going out to students when we are back from winter break (mid January). Please keep a look out. If your student has attended any after school activities this term they will not need to fill out an enrollment form, only an interest form for classes. If students are new to after school activities they will need to fill out an enrollment form. Students only need to complete one a year. If your student has been in ANY after school activities so far and you don’t remember doing one or have not completed one. Please stop by the office to complete a copy. They are mandatory for any student staying after school. We want to keep students safe and this is the way we can know who is in the building after hours.
If you have questions or would like to double check if we have your students form, email me at marisol@latnet.org.
Thank you!
