Grant's Performing Arts Department is excited for the return of Grantasia!, a holiday extravaganza featuring over 500 student performers from Band, Choir, Dance, Orchestra, and Tech Theatre, along with artwork from students in the Visual Arts Department. The show runs two nights, December 18th and 19th, and starts at 7:00 pm with doors opening at 6:30. Come early to hear student jazz combos in the Upper Commons and to check out all of the merch tables.

Tickets for the show can be purchased HERE and will go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 13th at 6:00 pm. Both shows are expected to sell out so act fast! The public is also invited to a free open dress rehearsal of the entire show on Tuesday, December 17th, starting at 4:30 pm in the auditorium. This is a great way to see the show for free and to alleviate some of the pressure of getting tickets for the evening shows.

The Grant Gendrills Dance Team welcomes you to our Winter Try Outs on December 9th + 10th from 6pm - 8:30pm. We will meet in the Dance Room on 12/9 and in the Main Gym on 12/10. This is a competitive dance team that has been established for 40+ years. We welcome dancers of all skills and have both a JV and Varsity team that dancers can try out for. Teams will be announced within 24 hours of the last day of try outs. Commitment to the team includes practices on M/W/TH from 6pm-8:45pm as well as various Saturday Competitions and practices until our state championships on 3/21+3/22. Other commitments include uniform fees and fundraising goals and following out team etiquette and expectations. There will be a new team / all parent meeting on 12/12 that is mandatory to discuss expectations for the year and to outline key dates.

Dear Grant Students and Families,

To ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff, we are reinforcing the following entrance policy.

• Upon arrival, students must enter the main building through the front doors unless their first class is in the Art Building or Hollyrood.

• Late arrivals (after the bell) must sign in at the main office. Signing in ensures student safety and accountability in case of an emergency.

• Side entrances throughout the rest of the day: Students must show their PPS IDs to be "buzzed in”. Front office entry is required otherwise.

• Doors must remain secured all day. Propping doors open or admitting others is prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.

Given the high volume of people on campus at any given time, we are working to implement measures that control building access and mitigate potential risks. It is crucial that students understand the reasoning behind these necessary security directives.

We ask that parents and families reinforce our expectations by discussing the importance of safety and reassuring students that these measures are in place solely to ensure student and staff well-being at Grant High School.

Uniforms are required for Lifetime Fitness (formerly known as PE 1-2) students, but they are not provided through district resources. This fee helps to cover the cost of PE T-Shirt, Shorts, Workbook, and other supplies.

Student participation at sporting events and dances is highly encouraged and celebrated at Grant High School. To make attendance easier for our students, we offer an annual Associated Student Body (ASB) Sticker for $30 that provides for this school year:

• Discounts to future dances

What are the benefits?

If your student plans to attend dances or any home games, the ASB sticker will save both money and time with a quick flash of their ID for admittance to games! All proceeds are used to support: student activities, classroom supplies and equipment, events, and students experiencing financial hardship.

Where can I purchase one for my student?

Purchase the 24/25 ASB sticker online and then we will have time during lunch and after school for your student to have it added to their brand-new GHS Student ID. To purchase in-person, you can also send your student in with cash or check.

Athletics Information for Grant and the PIL

No Backpack Policy: Per PPS policy, no backpacks are allowed while attending athletic events on district property.

Admission: We will charge admission to the following sports across the district: football, volleyball, wrestling, and boys’ and girls’ basketball.

How to Purchase Tickets:

This season, we will be offering digital ticketing through GoFan. You can pre-purchase tickets for all PIL-hosted events online through GoFan Tickets. Links for tickets to PPS athletic events will be available on the district athletic website and individual school's athletic websites. Above is the link to all Grant Games and Season Passes.

Fans can purchase tickets online through GoFan or by presenting a card or mobile payment option at the ticket gate. All major credit cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, are accepted. Student ASB stickers will also be honored this year.

We will have JV2 Basketball games at the same time as Varsity Contests, we will begin charging for our contests at 530pm, including the JV2 game if it is at the same time as a Varsity game.

Winter PIL Single Game Ticket Prices:

• Basketball: adults $7, students $5, senior citizens $5

• Wrestling: adults $7, students $5, senior citizens $5

• Swimming: no charge

Athletics Passes: This year, spectators can purchase athletics passes. These passes are accepted at all league events. These passes do not get you into preseason games outside the PIL.

• Winter PIL Pass: $90

Outside Food: Outside food and drink are not allowed in our athletic contests. Some sites will have concessions available for purchase.

Entry Point: We have one point of entry for our contests in our Gym. These are the gym doors on the east side of the gym. You will be directed to use those doors for entry.

No Re-Entry: Once a person enters a varsity game, they are not allowed to leave the event and then return. This policy is for both students and adults.

Spectator Conduct: It is of the utmost importance that we conduct ourselves with the highest level of sportsmanship towards visiting schools, athletes, fans, and officials. The PIL is seeking to provide the best experience possible for everyone who attends our athletic contests. What makes these events fun and enriching is when we all do our part regardless of the outcome. Should any concerns arise, please seek out event workers, administration, or security personnel for help. We appreciate your support in advance.

We cheer for our athletes, support our coaches, stay off the referees, and respect our opponents. Anyone unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the gym or field.

This team is for all high school students in the Portland area regardless of Nordic Skiing experience. The goal is to provide a fun introduction to modern Nordic skiing and training with opportunities to race in the state's league, OISRAN. Nordic skiing is excellent cross training over the winter for other sports. Plus, it gives a break from the grey of PDX winters! Practices to be conducted by the coaches from Teacup/Mt Hood Nordic on snow at Teacup Lake Nordic trails and additional dryland practices in the Portland area.

Portland Black College Expo 2025: Thursday, January 16th at 2:00 PM

The National College Resource Foundation would like to extend this invitation to high school students to join us for the 1st Annual Portland Black College Expo! Meet with over 50 colleges. Get answers right on the spot. Get Educational Resources. EVERYONE is Welcome...it’s for students of ALL ages. The purpose of this communication is to alert families about a troubling pattern of online cyber abuse, which targets youth aged 14-18, particularly males, referred to as Sextortion. Sextortion occurs when someone is coerced into sending explicit images and once those images are received, they are used to threaten and extort (usually for money). In most cases, the teen believes they are exchanging the images with a teen of a similar age - this is part of the scam. Recently, federal law enforcement warned schools to be on the lookout for warning signs so that we may have the opportunity to intervene in potentially dangerous situations before things go too far. Last week, Hulu released a powerful documentary called IMPACT X Nightline: Sextortion that serves as an urgent warning and call to action for parents. While we recommend the film, we do so with caution as teen suicide is discussed throughout - please take care when watching. Included here are links to information, tips, and resources we’ve gathered about protecting teens from harm by online predators. We hope it will encourage conversation at home and between teens within their peer groups. As always, we welcome your feedback. Report concerns to Safe Oregon using any of the following methods.

They are considered an unregulated assistive person (UAP), which means they do not have health-related licensure or certification. They provide care for ill and injured students, and administer medications. At the direction of the RN, the SHA performs interventions and delegated nursing procedures within the student's individualized health plan. Parents may be contacted by the School Health Assistant if their student becomes ill or injured during the school day.
