Bridger Creative Science News
December 13, 2024
Good afternoon, BCSS Community!
This morning we had our December gatherings, and it was great to spend some time with the students, talking about our Wayfinder Value of the Month: Purpose, having cheering on some students who worked together to get marshmallows into bowls while their hands were in cups, and then coming together to be a human ocean - using our hands to represent a tide that was pulled by the moon (me, as I ran around the cafeteria). In our K-5 gathering, several of Ms. Hafsa's 4th graders bravely demonstrated their Purpose by sharing poems they've been working on. It was a lovely time of togetherness, silliness and fun. I always look forward to our gatherings, and I am so proud of our students and how they show up for each other in these spaces!
On a completely different note, I wanted to talk about a consistent problem we're seeing on our athletic field: dog waste. Our PE teachers, Allison and Nick, and our custodians are dealing with it every day. A couple of weeks ago, we had a major situation where 5 students came in from the field with waste on their shoes! It was mushy and stinky and ended up with lost learning, parents having to bring fresh shoes and extra cleaning of floors and carpets. One thing folks can do to help us avoid future incidents like this is keep dogs on the leashes on the field at all times - this is a PPS requirement on all school fields, and helps us keep students safe and clean. Please do not bring dogs, other than service animals, onto the playground or into the water garden.
Thank you for helping to keep our kids and campus safe and clean!

Ridwell Opportunity
Hi!
Ridwell has extended an invitation for us to bring up to 50 BCSS community members (staff students parents etc) to tour the Ridwell factory if we can sign up another 10 families by Feb 28th. I think a school trip would be awesome especially to get the kids excited about lifelong reduce, reuse, recycle!
Can you please help spread the word?
Thanks!
Anne

SUN Update
SUN Update
Hi parents, Students had lots of fun this fall term in SUN! This is the last week of the term.
Winter term will start February 3 and end March 21 (before spring break). Enrollment and interest forms will be going out to students when we are back from winter break (mid January). Please keep a look out. If your student has attended any after school activities this term they will not need to fill out an enrollment form, only an interest form for classes. If students are new to after school activities they will need to fill out an enrollment form. Students only need to complete one a year. If your student has been in ANY after school activities so far and you don’t remember doing one or have not completed one. Please stop by the office to complete a copy. They are mandatory for any student staying after school. We want to keep students safe and this is the way we can know who is in the building after hours.
If you have questions or would like to double check if we have your students form, email me at marisol@latnet.org.
Thank you!
