FPE Community Newsletter 09/20/23

Principal's Message:
Greetings Forest Park Students and Families,
Traffic in, on, and around FPE: Please continue exercising great caution when driving on NW Miller and NW Durrett St. each day. There are two crosswalks, both stretching across the intersection in front of our school. Whether students are crossing the street (in or out of a crosswalk), walking across our front or back driveway pads, or walking within our parking lot, it is our responsibility to watch out for them. Please drive slowly, even if you’re late! We want everyone to arrive and depart safely each day. Don’t forget, students should only exit vehicles on the curbside.
Food Drive: Your generosity during this time of year helps us support families in three PPS schools during the winter break: Scott Elementary, Vestal Elementary, and Whitman Elementary. Thank you, Diane (Jacqueline’s mom, 3rd grade), for organizing, running, packing, and delivering to support PPS families.
School Photos: Last day to view and order your beautiful school photos is Friday, December 6th. Username: Forest Park Elementary 2024-2025 Password: 23956fp
Amended Cell-Phone Policy (PPS): The school board voted to amend the policy regarding cell phones and personal electronic devices at school for students. The amended policy aligns with our current practice: all cell phones and personal electronic devices (including iWatches) must be turned off and not used during the school day. Upon arrival at school, students are required to turn off or silence their devices by 8:00 a.m., leave them in their backpacks throughout the day, and usage may resume at 2:30 p.m. upon dismissal. Thank you for supporting our school and district policy regarding this usage.
Lost & Found: Please stop by to look for your student's belongings. There’s lots of really good stuff in there looking to be reunited with its owners! Labeling your child's clothing and belongings ensures we can return items quickly.
Winter is here!: It’s wonderful to see students in snuggly coats, hats, and gloves. We are outside for recess, getting our vitamin D and enjoying the winter sunshine, so please make sure your student continues to dress warmly.
Welcome to our new Forest Park staff members! Krista Becker joins us as an Academic Interventionist. Her role involves working directly with individual and small groups of students, supporting classroom teachers. Mia Yerton is our new Administrative Assistant 2. She serves as our school secretary, and is a 2011 FPE Alum! Please join me in welcoming Krista and Mia the next time you're on campus.
