Family Advisory Council on Education - Updates and Recruitment - November 2024
The Family Advisory Council on Education (FACE) provides representatives the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with others from across PPS about the teaching and learning priorities that impact their students and the entire school community. The purpose of this group is 1) to provide input about PPS’ priorities and initiatives, and 2) serve as a liaison to bring information back to your site council and school community and also bring topics of interest from the school community to this district-wide council.
Our goal is to have every PPS school/program represented on the council. Thus far, we have 27 schools/programs represented. It is important that we have as much representation as possible so that all have a chance to weigh in on the instructional priorities and initiatives that will impact their students, and ensure we are keeping Educational Equity for Black and Native students at the center of our conversations.
Meeting Information
We held the first Family Advisory Council on Education session on October 9th. Here are slides from this session.

A note about vaccines from the district office
Vaccines play a crucial role in protecting our students from serious illnesses and help keep our community safe. Parents/ Guardians of students who are due to receive vaccines should receive a letter in the mail. Please check if your child’s vaccinations are current, including their recommended flu shot, and contact your medical provider or any of the resources listed below. Exclusion day is 2/19/25. Please ensure your student is up to date on vaccines before then.

Cafecito
We were very happy to see new parents attending our morning social and educational Cafecito morning event. Thank you parents for attending! Cafecito Time is a new initiative aimed to provide parents space to learn, build community, and most importantly for parents to have a voice on school matters. As a new initiative, we are working hard in shaping the content of these meetings based on parents interests. Because of this, we will collaborate with our school administrator and parents to bring topics of your interests. Parents, we appreciate your feedback and patience!
Our next Cafecito time is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd at 8:35am. We hope to see you there!
We prioritize your child’s safety during pickup and drop-off every day. To ensure a smooth and secure process, we kindly ask you to review the designated pickup and drop-off locations highlighted on the attached map. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!
All areas in light blue a places families can go to drop their students off (NE 66th or across the street in the church parking lot).
If you prefer to drop your student off on Prescott, please know they will have to walk around to the back of the school to enter.
Please refrain from driving down NE 68th, in both directions between NE Prescott and NE Skidmore, so buses can get into the loading zone and keep students safe.
Congratulations to this month's perseverance award winners!
