A Note from Principal Presley
This week was riddled with illness on both staff and student ends, but that couldn’t stop this amazing team! A special highlight for me was being the guest teacher in 4th and then 8th grade! It’s a great reminder of why we all got into this work in the first place. It also has me scheming up how to get more chances to guest teach in the weeks ahead. Our teachers continued their professional learning community work this week, and some may call me crazy, but it’s one of my FAVORITE parts of the week. I have the joy of working with 3rd and 5th grade teams on Wednesdays, and wow- they are all stars! Last night was B2SN, and it was a joy to see families in the building interacting with each other and their students' teachers. This week, I also started a new book called Never Enough by Jennifer Breheny Wallace. While I am only a few chapters in, it's proving to be an incredibly relatable read. Stay tuned because I may see if families would want to join in a book club of sorts to read it, too! Finally, while we are settling in and closing out the first month, there’s still some modifications to students' daily schedules for the next two weeks with Picture Day, The Fun Run, and a Late Opening PD day. We are incredibly grateful for the community's ability to pivot. Sometimes, I feel like we are living out this clip from friends, and I’m glad to have “friends” like you to pivot with when necessary. Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
Outside Food on Campus
While having a CVS next door can be a great convenience (and HUGE money maker for them), we are experiencing A LOT of students bringing large bags of candy, chips, and soda on campus. Many have cracked open the bags before even entering school in the morning. While we don't want to dictate what students eat, we do want to make sure students are their best selves each day. We are asking families to support their students refraining from these early morning purchases.
Coffee Talk
Shout out to those who reached out about volunteer conflict if Coffee Talk coincided with The Fun Run next week. As a result, we will be moving our first Coffee Talk to Friday, October 6th at 9:00 AM in the cafeteria.
