Marysville Message
January 26th, 2024
Dear Marysville Families
It was so nice to have a full week together for learning. I'm so grateful that while we did have some significant water damage, we did not have to miss any school.
I appreciate all of the help that families and staff members provided in setting up new learning spaces for our two displaced second grade classrooms.
Ms. Munteanu's classroom will be working in room 135 until the ceiling and walls in her room can be repaired.
We are hoping that Ms. Herron's class will be able to move back into room 139 from the library soon.
The wall separating room 141 and 139 is still not dry enough for reconstruction to begin. While things are damp, they will not be closed up, which could lead to mold issues. We are continuing to run a dehumidifier and have ongoing moisture testing happening in all spaces to confirm all areas are sufficiently dried out.
We are waiting for an environmental safety company to complete some specific moisture mapping and air quality testing before we return students and staff to room 139. Because of the extent of water damage around the city from this storm, there has been a little delay in their availability to complete that testing.

We will also be having a few teachers on leave during second semester. We know that this can feel like a disruption to a classroom, but we are fortunate at Marysville to get wonderful long term subs for these classrooms.
Ms. Anello in 3rd grade will be out from February 12th until early April and Ms. Cowles will be returning to Marysville to cover her classroom.
Mr. Cunningham will be out from mid March until near the end of the school year. Dunja Marcum will be covering the music classes for this time.
