A Note from Principal Presley
As I sit in my office after the best two days I have had in weeks, I can't help but think about how grateful I am for this community. In the spirit of thanks, I want to be sure to shout out all of the families (extended, too!) for keeping spirits alive during these difficult times while simultaneously supporting our teachers. We are very fortunate that you entrust us with your greatest treasures- your kids!
Monday, we were able to check out 103 books to over 50 students during our library check- out hours. It was great to see families and students in the building both reading and selecting "must-reads" for the break.
Today, we welcomed students on campus to beautify the school and plan the middle school dance. Affirmations were added to the stairs known as "Mt. Everest", bulletin boards were created, and a thank you banner was made for when teachers return! Some students even helped clear the front area to make the space welcoming when we return together.
As the fall break begins, I hope you have an amazing time with family and/or friends in any way you celebrate. For my husband and I, it means a Duck game which I'm sure comes at no shock to anyone. What may be shocking, however, is it will be my first Duck game at Autzen. Sure, I've traveled to California, Utah, Michigan, Atlanta, Washington, Texas, and Arizona for games, but I have never been to a game in Eugene!
Finally, while no news has been shared when we may return, I know the hope is we will all be back together next week. I don’t know what the next few days will look like in terms of negotiations and the strike, but please continue to look for texts and emails from the district office for updates. If a settlement is reached, or any other news comes up, we will also send out a special edition of our newsletter to share the BCS specific details.
Warm regards,
Becky
