A Note from Principal Presley
Happy Friday!
It seems like this week was a very BUSY one, but maybe that's because I've been riding high since OBOB last weekend. I had the joy of attending OBOB for the first time on Saturday and wow! It’s quite the undertaking to plan and carry out, so a special shout out to Joelle and Laura for making it happen! The building being filled with talks of books coupled with families was such a highlight!
This week, teams worked to plan for upcoming teacher professional development- we are excited for teacher leaders to facilitate next week's PD all about supporting students with IEPs. We also have our Cougar Reps working to share in an upcoming fishbowl style PD about what helps them learn best and stay engaged at school! Yesterday, I attended the February Principal Leadership Institute. The focus was on calibrating across campuses and getting in classrooms to see Wit & Wisdom (our English Language Arts K-5 curriculum) in action. We were at Faubion observing third grade classrooms- it made me think about how we could scheme up ways to collaborate more with other teachers across the district.
Today, we were able to celebrate our school climate specialist's pregnancy with a baby shower- a special thanks to the Lookout Team for organizing it! Next Week is classified Appreciation Week! We are so lucky to have so many amazing educational assistants, paraeducators, cafeteria management, front office staff, and custodians- be sure to celebrate them if you see them next week!
Finally, I’ve received many wonderful emails from families excited to learn more about WIN in middle school; getting able to share with families more about the instructional moves we are using to support student growth and achievement always makes my day! Click here to read all about WIN’s purpose and design.
As we head into the weekend, I hope you can rest up a bit and be rejuvenated! It looks like it’s going to be a rainy one, so my goal is to read a little and watch some movies (and naturally go to the Timbers Game). I always loved a good rainy day in Phoenix because it was my perfect excuse to do absolutely nothing. I’m going to continue to have to be careful to not take on that attitude here, or my productivity will severely dwindle!
Have a great weekend!

Dogs on School Property during School Hours
Just a reminder, dogs are not allowed on school property during school hours. We love dogs and understand they are part of the family, but we also recongnize that some kids are nervous around dogs and the chaos during arrival and dismissal can ampilfy the energy. Woof!
