Beverly Cleary School

This week started abruptly but has been absolutely tremendous! Having staff and students back on campus was the highlight- so much buzzing in spaces that had been silent.

As the week progressed, it was almost surreal to see expectations reset and practiced near perfectly in every classroom. Student stamina seemed to pick up right where we left off, and families are one of the main reasons for that. You must have kept life consistent during the interruption, so thank you!

Today, we had a bounce back assembly led by our Cougar reps on empathy and inclusion. It was a great way to unite the community. Next week, we are lucky to host the Portland Opera on campus for Cinderella. A special shout out to our counselor for Ms. Jablonski for organizing it!

Finally, as a part of Action for Happiness' “Do Good December”, we are encouraging the community to try the daily suggestion for how you might fill someone’s bucket each day! Click here for the detailed calendar. I’m going to do my best to try each day’s suggestion, and I invite you to do the same!

As the week comes to a close, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. For our family that will mean watching the Ducks game tonight and heading to Eugene to watch them play basketball versus Michigan tomorrow.

The district has added Dec 18th-22nd to the school schedule. We understand many families have previously scheduled plans that week. Please let us know if you student will be out by entering the absence in ParentVue or through the link below.

Middle School Conference will be held January 10th & 11th and January 16th & 17th from 5-8pm in the cafeteria. Middle School conferences will be roundtable style, with the ability for families to meet with all teachers. Please bring your students so they can hear all of the great feedback!

K-5 teachers will be reaching out to families to schedule individual student conferences. Check your email for dates and times!

A Children’s Place Bookstore (1423 NE Fremont St.) is offering to give 10% of all sales made between Dec 11-15 to Beverly Cleary School’s Library program when shoppers reference Beverly Cleary School during their purchase. Do your holiday shopping while doing good for our library. Specially curated book recommendations abound for all ages, including even the best bets for adults. (Open on weekdays from 10-5.)
